Meet Emily

Thursday, February 20th, 2014

Aloha! My name is Emily and I am from Portland, Oregon. I currently attend BYU Hawaii and will be graduating next year in Exercise and Sport Science. I grew up babysitting my neighbors from ages 1-10. I would mostly watch families with only 2 or 3 kids but have handled much more. I was the neighborhood’s go-to babysitter for any occasion. When I got older I got a job as a coach for SkyHawks (youth sports camps). I would have a group of 10-15 kids on my own and would have to teach them a certain skill everyday, rules of the sport, along with sportsmanship, teamwork, and other life lessons. My senior year of high school I nannied for one of the coaches at my school. My responsibilities included picking up the two kids from school everyday, helping them with homework, making them a snack, getting them ready for soccer practice and then dropping them off. I enjoyed this job a lot and was lucky to find a nanny agency once I moved to Hawaii!

Meet Rashae

Thursday, December 26th, 2013

Hello my name is Rashae and I am 25 years old. I graduated from Mililani High School in Mililani, Hawaii, and then went on to Hawaii Pacific University in Honolulu in 2006. While in Hawaii, I worked as a Group Leader at Kama Aina Kids, a program that provides care for children whose parents are not available to provide their kids with certain services, including but not limited to transporting them to and from school, helping with home work, etc., etc. On school vacations and holidays, the program provided all-day services. I was in charge of 25 children ranging from kindergarteners to sixth graders.

I moved to California, and attended the Los Angeles Recording School, from which I graduated in May 2009. I quickly found permanent full time Nanny position, working with the nine-year old daughter of a prominent lawyer in the entertainment business and her well-known husband. However, I have returned home to Hawaii for a while to spend some time with my family. I have five nieces and nephews ranging in ages from 1 to 4 which I absolutely adore, they make my life so much brighter being home with them. I have experience with all ages and I love the differences between them all, each age comes with a different stage of maturity in a child’s life and it is so fun to see how each kid is unique in there own way.

I am a very experienced, responsible, focused, driven, hard working, loving, kind, fun person, and I like to think I am easy to get a long with. I love kids with all my heart, and look forward to the day I am blessed with my own. Until then I plan to continue and enjoy being helpful to other families in need of my assistance, and be able to allow parents to go enjoy there day or nights knowing there children are in safe hands.

Thank you for taking the time to get know a little bit about me and I look forward to having the opportunity to meet you and your beautiful family. Thank you again and many blessings!

Meet Whitney

Friday, September 6th, 2013

photo(1)Aloha, my name is Whitney and I am currently a Senior in college. I grew up in San Jose, California and I am the youngest of 5 children so when my siblings started having babies I was their built-in nanny. I’ve nannied 2 twin boys from the age of 3 week infants until they were 6 years old full time every summer and part time during the school year. I absolutely love those boys like they are my own and loved helping them read, write, and grow into great kids. I look forward to my summers because I’m able to watch them full time and take them on fun, safe adventures. I also nanny for a family that has 4 children, the oldest being 9 and the youngest being 6 months. I can handle all age ranges and love doing so. I absolutely adore children and love spending time playing with them. I typically don’t allow TV/video games while I nanny unless specifically requested from the parents. I’d rather spend time playing with the kids and encouraging safe, educational, games and learning! I can’t wait to meet you and your children!!

Meet Melissa!

Thursday, June 27th, 2013

Hey there my name is Melissa and I was born and raised in the country side of Hertfordshire, England. I was raised in a loving family of 6 children constantly surrounded by immediate and extended family. My upbringing was jam packed with good times and plenty laughs. Eventually my older siblings and cousins started families and that’s where I came into the picture! Of course, they all needed a baby sitter and so I took it upon myself to care and tend to the needs of the little ones. The local church group I attended placed me in charge of the nursery that had babies, toddlers, infants, and young children. From there it all just overflowed into an amazing adventure of experiences that took me all around the world.

I have cared for children in Australia and the UK and enjoyed every moment. In the UK I took care of two family’s children, a total of 6 kids for 4 years. I became a second mother to them and shared special life lessons with them all. I enjoyed teaching and watching them grow from nappies to their first day at school. My love for kids took to new heights when I became a Zumba instructor. I was able to not only instruct adults but also instruct the new “Zumba for kids “program in my home town. I learnt how to incorporate my early years of Nannying to benefit a healthy proactive lifestyle for growing children. By trade I am a Photographer and love to photograph families, especially New born babies and children. Often times I hear how challenging they can be in a photo shoot, but I find that I am able to use all my skills to create a fun environment where both parents and children enjoy their time with me.

I am a kind loving warm hearted person that adores and love children. My needs always come second to the needs of your children. I enjoy fun activities, being proactive and fun energizing games with children. My aim is to ensure that my time with your children is not only fun, educational and exciting but also to look out for their safety. I look forward to meeting you and your lovely family!

Meet Michelle!

Friday, May 24th, 2013
Alooooha! My name is Michelle. I am 23 years old. I grew up in San Diego, California. I am the youngest of 9 children in my family. I’ve been an aunt since I was 6 years old so growing up it has always felt like I’ve had younger siblings to care for. Having so many nieces and nephews I have always had many opportunities to babysit and watch over them. Aside from family, as a teenager I would often babysit on the weekends for members of my church. This taught me a lot about patience and the need to interact with the kids.
Just after High School I started working at a gym called Frog’s Fitness. There I was able to work in the nursery and really learn a lot about kids. At times there would be 2 of us workers and up to 10 children under the age of 8. It was a great experience and I feel that I truly learned the etiquette of providing care for children that I was not familiar with. I learned that every child is different and they all have individual needs and desires. I learned that kids like to be active…and so do I! I love to run around and make up games. Being creative is fun and I hope inspire all the kids I’m around to use their imaginations.
I am currently studying Exercise and Sports Science at Brigham Young University-Hawaii. That is what has brought me to this beautiful island I call home. I love getting up and playing with the kids that I care for because it makes our time together so much more enjoyable and purposeful. I think that getting involved with the kids and learning something is much better than sitting around and watching TV. I recently volunteered for a few months in a Special Needs Pre-School class with 6 children. I had so much fun! I’m interested in learning and eventually becoming an Adaptive PE teacher for children with Special needs. They’re so beautiful! I plan on being here in Hawaii for a few more years and I can’t wait to meet your children and get to know you parents as well!! Mahalo!

Meet Mary

Friday, January 4th, 2013

Aloha! My name is Mary. I am 27yrs old. I recently moved to East Honolulu (up in the mountains) from Washington State. I received my degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, Social Sciences with a Psychology minor from Central Washington University in August of 2011.I am planning to go back to school for a PhD in Clinical Psychology and to eventually do therapy for adolescents. I have been working with children since I was 18 years old. I have worked as a Gymboree Play and Music Manager where I taught Play, Art and Music classes for children/parents ages birth-5yrs and as a personal nanny for many different families with everything from special needs to behavior issues to you-name-it! I am a former foster parent for two boys ages 6 and 9, who I then continued working with while they went through family reunification processes, as an in-home care provider. I spent the last year before moving here as the director of a before and after school program for the YMCA. During that time (to avoid doing split-shifts) I worked in the middle of the day for the YMCA Early Learning Center on the same site as their cook and did assisting work in the preschool and pre-k rooms.

In my free time I love to garden, cook, paddle board (I am really excited to take up surfing soon!), ride bikes, hike, swim, read and listen to music. I live with my long-term boyfriend and 100lb American Bull-dog. We like to live an active lifestyle, volunteering at local Surfrider events, cleaning up beaches, and playing whenever we can!

As a nanny I feel like it is my job to do the things that the parents would do if they were there. I am the type of nanny that teaches children WHY they need to do something. That helps me to both enforce the rules of the house/meet the needs of the parents, as well as to form a lasting bond with the children, and encourage them to make correct choices so they can be safe and we can all have fun! I have been lucky to have worked with several families that I have developed lasting relationships with. I enjoy working with children of all ages. I like babies because they’re cute, cuddly and you get to watch them grow and meet milestones, I like kids because they’re sweet and inquisitive and I like teenagers because they are growing so much and need guidance and friendship as well as someone to talk to…and oh, the things they will tell you if you take the time to listen! I enjoy working one-on-one with kids or doing events with many children. I am CPR and Infant/Child/Adult CPR Certified through the American Red Cross.

Mahalo for taking the time to read about me! I look forward to meeting your family soon 🙂 ~Mary

Meet Bekah

Friday, January 4th, 2013

Aloha families!!  My name is Bekah.  I was born and raised (mostly) in Missouri, however my travels have taken me to Michigan, Florida, Oregon, Kansas, and Texas.  I started out, like most young girls, babysitting in middle school…just for neighborhood kids and cousins.  When I moved to Oregon in 1999 I was in charge of our church nursery which was for kids ranging from newborn to 6 years old.  I then moved to Texas for school and was a nanny for a 12 year old there.  During my undergrad I volunteered at Doernbecher Children’s hospital in Portland OR, and had my practicum working with adolescents with developmental disabilities and delays.  After I graduated with my BS in Psychology with an emphasis in child and family services I moved to Germany for a year to figure out what I wanted to do.  I was an Au Pair there for 4 kids from ages 6-14.

I went back to Portland Oregon and worked for two years at the Boys and Girls Club as program assistant and then teen director.  I worked with kids aging from 6-18 years.  I moved to Oahu in 2010 and was a nanny, for a year, for a family with 2 kids here on the island (I attained that through Nannies Hawaii).  I am currently employed as a Tutor for children with autism.  I have several clients ranging in ages from 8-11.  I still keep in touch with most of the kids I have worked with from my babysitting days, to Germany, up through my most recent nanny experience here on the Island.  However, I am excited to work with and meet new families and children.

Working with kids my whole life I am used to being active and running around like crazy (that’s what kids are for).  Being creative and coming up with fun and new games to play is something that I pride myself on doing.  Growing up we didn’t have a lot so my older brother and I always had to come up with new games to play….such as sock-wars and baloony-ball, and of course playing the classics such as freeze-tag and sardines.  I have learned that every creative idea from a child is gold!  There imaginations are beyond anything us adults can come up with and that always makes for a fun time.

Meet Jennie!

Thursday, January 3rd, 2013

Aloha! My name is Jennie. I was born and raised in NW Oklahoma, and moved to the North Shore of Oahu in 2002. I began working with children while still practically a child myself. In middle school, I started babysitting and helping my mom teach Mom’s Morning Out aerobics classes to children during the summer. That led to teaching Arts and Crafts to children for summer programs in High School. While attending the University of Central Oklahoma, I worked for Peace Lutheran Church for 5 years as a Nursery Attendant and taught 1&2 year old Sunday School and 5 year old midweek classes. In May of 2001, I graduated with a degree in Early Childhood Education.

After college, I taught Kindergarten in Texas and, later. part-time in Oklahoma. However, when I began working for United Airlines in 2002, I enjoyed the airline industry so much that I ended up traveling and working at the airport until recently.  I decided to stop making the long commute from North Shore to the airport Honolulu. I now substitute teach for the Windward School District of Oahu, and enjoy being able to take on more nanny jobs. I have worked as a nanny for Nannies Hawaii for 3 years.

I am a very active person, and enjoy everything outdoors from running, hiking, swimming, to relaxing at the beach with friends or a good book. I hope to provide a relaxed, safe atmosphere for your child. Each child receives individualized care and attention based on their particular interests. I look forward to meeting you! Mahalo

Meet Megan!

Thursday, December 6th, 2012

My name is Megan and I recently moved to Hawaii to be closer to my sister. I am 23 years old and for the past 5 years I worked as a Teacher for Gymboree Play and Music, leading kids in mommy and activitities.  It was such a great opportunity to meet and watch the little ones grow from about 8 weeks to 5 years.

I have been babysitting since I was 15 years old, primarily on weekends and evenings in high school. I took child development classes after graduating from high school.

During my time at Gymboree I built great relationships with the kids and families and I began to babysit for a lot of those families on an as-needed basis.  It was wonderful to be able to be apart of their lives outside of Gymboree.

One of my favorite positions was working as a part time nanny to twin boys from 7 to 22 months.

My family means the world to me.  I have a very tight bond with each and everyone of them. My sister is expecting her first child in 2013 which is why I moved to Hawaii.  In my spare time I like to go to the beach, shopping and just lounge around and watch movies.  Since I’ve moved, my favorite thing is to Skype with my 4 year old niece and my 7 year old nephew.

My goal here is help families by taking care of their children and making the parents life easier.  I would love to meet and build a relationship with each and every family i meet.  I will make sure the kids are having great fun and exciting learning activities.  I look forward to meeting you and helping take care of your pride and joy.

Meet Alyssa

Friday, October 5th, 2012

Hello!  My name is Alyssa, I am 23 and I just recently moved to Hawaii after getting married to my husband  in April 2012 who proudly serves in the army. I grew up in the absolutely stunning Flathead Valley in Montana. I lived there for 20 years. I am the eldest of four sisters so I had my fair share of family babysitting over the years. Along with having my parents in Montana,my grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins all live within a 20 mile radius which allowed for family gathering on every holiday, birthdays and Sunday dinners after church . I now see how lucky I was to have such a close and amazing family. I was also very blessed  in the sense that I got to experience so much that Montana has to offer. I spent my summers taking all the opportunities to enjoy the outdoors that I could and I was and I am still willing to try new things whenever possible.

After high school I went to college at Montana State University to study nursing and para-medicine  While in college I discovered my passion for fire fighting and being an EMT. I proceeded served on fire departments for four years gaining life experience I could get no where else. I then moved to Seattle and became a nanny for 2 separate  families on Mercer Island. I realized that  I was able to serve others more effectively being a nanny then working in marketing so I quit my marketing job and began working  for a nanny agency called Annie’s Nannies where I  was blessed to work with families all over Seattle. I also was presented with the opportunity to volunteer in my church’s Sunday school and was able  to interact and teach children of all different ages.
I am now loving everything Hawaii has to offer and  starting to work on finishing my nursing degree. I hope that with the opportunities I am going to receive  working with families in Hawaii I can share my love for the outdoors, cooking, baking, arts and crafts  and the simple joy of playing on a playground. I try to met all the families needs, understand and respect their parenting styles and see every job as an opportunity to serve and learn from others.
